ASEAN Chairman’s Statement on ASEAN’s Humanitarian Response to Cyclone MOCHA in Myanmar


The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has mobilized humanitarian response to support the emergency relief efforts in Myanmar due to the severe impact of Cyclone MOCHA. As of 2 June 2023, the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) has handed over relief items for the affected communities in the townships of Sittwe, Rathedaung, KyaukTaw, and Ponnagyun. ASEAN Emergency Response and Assessment Team (ASEAN-ERAT), which consists of 14 people from AMS, ASEC and AHA Centre, has been deployed for a Rapid Needs Assessment in Rakhine State, and along with In-Country Liaison Team (ICLT) has mobilised Disaster Emergency Logistics System for ASEAN (DELSA) relief items.
